Cadmium yellow was a favorite for some time.  The taste –  sweet, metallic, creamy.  Just like biting into a marshmallow chick you’d get in your seasonal Easter aisle.  Twist the brush between your lips to get that fine point while adding just enough saliva so as not to diminish the vibrancy needed.  Wonder how the white tastes?  Once you add the fine details of light hitting the subject you’ll experience the taste.  Just watch for the lead content.  Don’t want to end up like some one-eared, post-impressionist, Dutch painter.

As I pass the mask, Conrad’s Heart of Darkness comes to mind.  Make way for progress at the hand of colonial expansion.  Conquer the savages.  Deny them their language, their culture, their history.  Civilize.  Assimilate.  Evil and darkness cast out through the hand of the white imperialist.  Where are you Kurtz?

If the song begs, “All I need is some inspiration,” you needn’t look further.  Sweet Water Organics runs an incredible indoor farm using aquaponics.  As the sign says they raise veggies and fish in an incredibly well balanced ecosystem.  My thumbs turn green just thinking about all of the ideas for next year’s garden.

The warmth of an Indian summer passed leaving us shivering in Fall’s embrace.  I planned on leaving the furnace off until November.  However, with several mornings approaching the low forties and a permanent chill reaching my marrow I changed my mind. “Winter can’t be far off,” the leaves say as they float past my eyes bound for the damp, cool earth below.

Millions upon millions of spores released into the harsh world while their mother or father (the fruiting body really has no sex so I guess its both) is sauteed in bath of buttery goodness and tossed with some salt.  The nutty flavor of a fresh shiitake is worth the collateral damage.
