Three-Six-Five

Step One:  We admitted we were powerless over our addiction and our lives had become unmanageable.

I lose large amounts of time.  I wander the forest at a snails pace.  I cannot be contacted for hours on end and forget where I’ve been.  I avoid pertinent questions like, “Where were you?”  And answer, “I can’t tell you.”  No I haven’t been on a alcohol fueled binge or searching for smack on the mean streets of Hartford.  I am addicted to the Morel and all things surrounding its short appearance in the Spring.

This bounty was used in an original pasta dish.  I sauteed the morels in a mixture of olive oil, butter, and white wine.  In the resulting reduction I cooked the shrimp, parsley, and cherry tomatoes, tossing in the morels and pasta right before the shrimp were done (overcooked shrimp may be the worst thing in the world apart from war, famine, and pestilence).  Top it all off with some shaved Romano and pair it with parmesan roasted artichoke hearts and a soon-to-be vintage Charles Shaw Nouveau red and you have a meal that rivals Chef Boyardee’s Beefaroni.

The first of several celebrations for the lovely Sarah.  Happy birthday Sarah.  Like a good wine, you get me light headed, woozy, and at a loss for words in the presence of your beauty.

Three-Six-Five

The days become painfully long.  Earth’s axis continues to tilt toward our nearest star inviting warmth and several guests to share in the night sky.  Aquila, Cynus and Hercules have come to party.  Ophiuchus forgot his own booze, instead opting to bring his Lyra and regale us with songs of old performed extremely out of tune.

Add to the resume “Painter Extraordinaire.”  Sarah and I had the pleasure of collaborating on a piece together at a painting class taught by our friends Charlie and Carol at Uptown Art Uncorked.  Who knew my wife was this multi-talented?

Cinco De Mayo Fiesta

Ok, so this is the second part of my bday celebration… I am such a lucky girl.  Where do I even begin?  Well, it all started out when Steven had offered to prepare an intimate meal for me and a couple of my girlfriends to celebrate my bday.  The day that worked out happened to be on Cinco de Mayo – and so the fiesta theme ensued.  I was so excited that even though I had already invited the girls, I decided to hand make some formal invites.  Then my handy work too off!  I created some fun decor inspired by Pinterest.  I even made my own pinata!!!!  I plugged it with lottery scratch offs, candy buttons, stationary, nail files, car air fresheners, granola bars, and dark hershey kisses.  It went over great:)  The drinks Steven served us were delicious, the dinner was oh-so fabulous, and the photo booth was tons of fun!    The mexican chocolate cake that Steven made for me was fantastic.  I should know, I took a big bite out it even before anyone sang to me – it was a riot!

An extra special ‘thank you’ has to go out to my hubby, Steven.  Without his idea and master cookery, this wouldn’t have been possible.  Thanks for making dreams come true, Babe.  Love ya!

Three-Six-Five

Once we find the a** end of this classic, our dreams will finally materialize.  Waiting is the name of the game.  Since finding the engine, new front axle, and fuzzy dice, I’ve carved hash marks into the dash counting the days till the machine is complete.  Three hundred and fifty-six so far.  The parts we need have shipped out and should arrive within nine days.
