Here are some pics I found from State Fair last year. We have created a tradition with our friends, Nina & Geoff, of going to State Fair each year since our lifestyle session with their son, Ty. (See that session HERE) Since they just welcomed home a new baby boy this week, Nina & Geoff couldn’t make the trip out with Steven and I tonight. So here’s a little remembrance of the good times shared – cream puffs, bacon tots, fried green beans, fresh wisconsin grilled cheese, deep fried oreos, and all! Man, deep fried oreos… Nina and I were changed women when we discovered those little suckers!) -Sarah

Auntie Mares
We never go a day without being thankful for the job that we have. Being able to freeze a moment, a memory in time; something you can always look back on and remember just like it was yesterday. When we have the opportunity to do this for our family it just doesn’t get much better. My Auntie Mares is a very special person in my life. I even coined her infamous nickname, Mares. (Because I couldn’t say (or didn’t want to say) Mary). I’ve actually been after her to have a portrait taken for years, so I was absolutely elated when she finally decided to do a session with us. To capture her beauty and infectious laugh was an honor. Mares = JOY. Mom and Mares have been best friends for as long as I can remember and the three of us have made some pretty awesome memories together over the years. Having traveled across the Midwest and even Europe (while living in Belgium), we have shared a TON of incredible (and often extremely hilarious) experiences. Experiences that have shaped me into the woman I am today. Auntie Mares, you are as sweet and as funny as they come. I’m so lucky to have you as my Aunt and I know my Mom treasures you as a sister. Of course, it goes with out saying that you are loved by all who know you. You are so very, very special. Love you. Always, Sarah
10 Years!
Today Steven and I celebrated 10 years of marriage!!! Whaaahooo!!! Well, we actually celebrated on Tuesday & Wednesday in Chicago with a fantastic dinner at Rick Bayless’ restaurant Topolobampo (FABULOUS), followed by The Book of Mormon (which was awesome!). That night we stayed at The James (super cool hotel – thanks Molly:) and did some shopping on Michigan Avenue the next day – loving my new Louis V, what a surprise! (Thank you so much honey!) But today actually reminded me of our xmas together, which I meant to post about a while back. So now seemed like the perfect time to showcase what a terrific husband I have.
Steven always blows me away with his thoughtfulness, but this took the cake. For xmas last year he gave me a series of 3 packages, all with notes. The first included coal facial soap and dark imperial stout. The second included another fine beer along with several LUSH bath bombs (I die!), and a pair of new ear buds. The final package was such a surprise! I mean, I knew that Steven had been working on a project downstairs over the month of December, but I wasn’t allow to peek. I had no idea he put together a new wedding album for us with the photos from a Vegas desert session we did with friends a few years ago. It was hand made!!!! He dyed the cheese cloth, peeled the birch park and flattened it, screwed the holes to sew everything by hand. He even bought an old lace shirt to create overlay pages in the book. Oh, AND he even tore each page so the edges looked like that! Stamping it with ‘our love’ was the perfect finishing touch. This book was something I couldn’t ever have imagined… just like him.
Every day I am so thankful to have a man in my life that loves me so much, takes care of me (and our pups:), who I can truly count on and call my dearest friend. For EVERYTHING that you do Steven, thank you. I just love you. Happy Anniversary! Forever, Sarah
*Favorite Things*
1. Body Media Band
This year I got a little more into my health & fitness. Thanks to my friend Nina, I was able to try out this awesome invention. This arm band not only tracks your calories, it also calculates your sleep and steps. I have the bluetooth version, which is essential. You can see everything in real time on your phone and it makes logging your meals really easily. I am able to pair it with my MyFitnessPal app, which allows me to just scan the barcode on food items to enter it. What a cinch! This system has really helped me to get to know my body and I learned A LOT! You will too, so grab one and try it, they offer the first 3 months for free! There is also a new version that you can fit in your bra and it will even track your elevated steps climbed. It’s called a FitBit and that might be my next step:)
2. BMW X-3
We bought one late last year and we absolutely love it! Every time I get into it I am reminded of how much I love it. The heated steering wheel and seats literally heat up within a minute. Seriously! Not to mention the oh-so-comfy seats, the power and tight handling make it worth every penny. BMW has THE best warranty too – First 5 years with zero, and I mean ZERO maintenance – even oil changes. Love, love, love it!
3. John’s Shoe Repair
I found a cobbler!!!! Finally, after all of these years… I finally found one – a GREAT one at that! Just got a fab pair of vintage brazilian boots, like new, just needed new heel bottoms – fixed for under $10 and the boots are like brand spanking new. Scorrrrrre! 4. Raw Food Recipe Book
Our pal and former associate shooter, Jenna gave us this fabulous book. When you eat more raw foods, you feel better in every way. One of my favorite recipes is the avocolada – a pinacolada made with avocado. Trust me, it’s awesome! Thanks again Jenna:)
5. Live Well Network
We love NOT having cable tv. The shows that we do find the time to watch are on basic tv anyway – and if they aren’t we just HULU or Netflix it:) The new LWN network rocks! It’s like free HGTV:) Ali Vincent from the Biggest Loser has a great show called Live Big. Watch it!
6. Kemps Frozen Yogurt
This is a great ice cream replacement. I love making schaum torte with just this, the small merringue cookies, and fresh strawberries. Even just a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips tops this tasty treat off perfectly.
7. The Blind Horse Wine Dinner
Steven and I are self proclaimed ‘foodies’. We absolutely love good food. Wine dinners are the perfect place to enrich the palette and try new things. A new restaurant in Kohler has the best wine dinners – The Blind Horse. We have been to 2 dinners since they opened and we cannot wait for the next! They pair each exquisite meal flawlessly. Thanks to Carol & Charlie for introducing us to this little gem. Worth the drive!
8. Worthington Seamless Cami
I wear an undershirt cami with just about everything in the winter. I used to love The Limited’s version, but then they cheapened out and changed the fabric – it wasn’t as thick! I hate it when you can see through a cami. I came across these fabulous ones at one of my new favorite stores, JCP. For only $8 they are a total steal and super thick – excellent quality. Even the white is completely opaque and can be worn alone. I have white and black.
9. M83 Album
When I first heard M83 on the radio I knew that I had to get the album. Their 80’s flair reminds me of growing up. The sounds are dynamic and easy to listen to. I actually really love to listen to this album when I work out. It’s so inspiring. Sounds weird, I know, but listen to the music – it takes you to another place. Can’t get enough. #6 on the album, Raconte-Moi Une Histoire, makes me literally smile every time I hear it. Listen to the album HERE – you’ll see:)
10. Wigwam Wool Socks
When the hubs gave me these socks last year for xmas, I’m not gonna lie, I thought… “oooohhh….. that’s…. so…. sweet.” because I just thought, socks are socks, right? NO WAY! These socks are amazing – especially for winter. They keep my feet toasty (which is a miracle, I have terrible circulation), so plush, and made in WI – YES! I have the Merino Comfort Hiker style in Light Khaki seen here.
11. Fitness Magazine
I’m not sure how this ended up in my mailbox, but I am so glad it did! This woman’s magazine is incredible. Packed each month with LOADS of info. Seriously, it took me soooo long to get through it because it was filled with sooooo many things I love… not just fitness – but health, tons of inspiration, tips and even fashion. A bargain 1 yr subscription too, get it for $5.99 HERE!
12. Style Blogs
OMG! I fell in love with these things. So much so that I even started one of my own. However, I’m a bit delinquent in regular posting. But I haven’t given up hope. I just need to find a way to fit it into my life better;) Working on it. Check Spottswood Style HERE. These are just a couple of my favs: Atlantic-Pacific, Time Time Tomorrow, and Gal Meets Glam
Witching You a Happy Halloween!
Unfortunately, Mom’s trip to Rehoboth Beach’s annual Halloween gala was canceled due to Sandy. We were so honored to have her pop by this morning for a quick peek at her witch costume that she perfected over the past couple of months. She has always had the best Halloween spirit. We love it and we love her. Great job Mom 🙂
Happy Birthday
Patricia
Mom needed a new headshot for her business – Bancroft Travel Consulting. So we popped over this morning and I shot these. She is such a beautiful woman… those piercing blue eyes!!! I couldn’t help but show her off:) Love you Mom! (and loving that top!!!) -Sarah
Nicole + Dustin
We had a total blast hanging out in L.A. last week. We got to shoot this fabulous couple around where we were staying in Venice. The shops of Abbot Kinney provided awesome backdrops for our couple AND you can never go wrong with the beach. Such a gorgeous couple and such amazing light. Seriously, the warmest, butteriest light ever! We must send special thanks to Marie over at Agency Galetea for hooking us up with them – Marie, you are so awesome 🙂 . Of course, many, many thanks go to Nicole & Dustin as well. We absolutely LOVED working with you guys – it was like working with old friends! AND thanks again for introducing us to Blue Plate restaurant. Such a treat! You guys rock 😉 .
Seriously… we had such a blast with these guys!
Three-Six-Five
And so it’s come to this. Three hundred and sixty-five days. Three hundred and sixty-five posts of images. Were they inspired by the divine entity of art? Some perhaps. Others were captured in a lazy fit akin to a high school student trying to finish a class project at the last minute. The purpose was merely to capture some image, be it riveting or revolting, everyday for a year. What have I learned from the project? Well, that will all be addressed in the book I will be compiling of all the images and postings – stay tuned for the announcement! Until then, thanks for all of your comments and time you’ve spent viewing my images and reading the accompanying ramblings.
Here’s to another trip around the Sun and the projects and paths we propel ourselves on.

Three-Six-Five
We scramble to perfect the preparations for the party.
