Three-Six-Five

Of course in NYC I knew I’d come across some very interesting things.  Since I’m always on the look out for great vandalism of signs or absurd signs this was perfect.  Check out the link to some funny signs here and here that will give you a laugh or three.

Primped and preened to partake in the perilous pilgrimage to the province of pavement and people. (Side note – need a great cut? Go see Scott Yance at Eric of Norway. Simply brilliant with a pair of scissors in his hands.)

The directions we take in life.  The roads we encounter lead to varying ends; prosperity, happiness, despair, mundanity, success, failure, life, death.  Cool thing about these paths is they’re always changing and the course never fully plotted out.  Detours abound and sometimes the payment cedes to gravel, mud and sand.  In the immortal answer of a child, “Cairy on my wae what so – equoles when wate here are done – lae your deep head to west – don’t you cry no more.” (Confused?  Check out this link for a little clarity and a laugh or three.)

Back in the day, I guess farmers, while emptying these things (forgot the name of ’em), would tie their pants legs up with baling wire to prevent the flood of rats that are towards the bottom from running up their legs and into their holy of holies.   The bigger the rat the bigger the bite.  Oh the invention of mechanized farm machinery.

Amy + Jarod

After our Fourth of July break we were extremely anxious and excited to have another wedding to attend. We had the pleasure of working with Amy and Jarod last fall at Barthel’s fruit farm – on one of our memorable engagement sessions of 2010 (reminder to all you couples out there – picking a fun location for an engagement session is 90% of getting great shots). Saturday turned out just as eventful for us. The day was beautiful – a nice break from our mini heat wave we’ve been experiencing – and Amy and Jarod, as well as their friends and family, were a blast to work with. We even made a pit stop at one of our favorite places to eat on the go – Jimmy Johns! Having their reception at the lovely Boerner Botanical Gardens was the icing on the cake for a memorable day. Congrats to the happy couple, and Ringo their dog, in their new life.

The AC’s working overtime.  It’s earning its pay this year without a doubt.  Like an old train engineer well beyond his years and days close to death it keeps going without complaints.  Gotta love the long hot July days.

This is my pile of procrastination.  It stares me in the face everyday; haunting me, teasing me, asking when I’m gonna get around to staining my deck, posting my blog, romancing my wife, saving the world.  Damn you good intentions!  Why do something today when it can be put off until tomorrow?

Fill it up with a prayer for the less fortunate.  A little spare change for those dying in need.  Help ’em out St. Vinny, the welfare line’s a gettin’ long.
