After a few years of grueling academia and a lot of blood sweat and tears – Steve’s Mom graduates nursing school! We all made the trip to IN to witness this joyous event (and capture it of course:). Not only did she graduated Summa Cum Laude, she was also awarded the “Patricia Gobel Award”! All of us couldn’t be more proud of her and her amazing accomplishment. We love you Mom – YOU DID IT!

Remember this handsome couple? Getting to know our couples on an engagement shoot really fires us up for their wedding and builds a comfort level that aids in our wedding day coverage. Kellie and Joe paid the utmost attention to every detail of their day. Joe wore his own tux as well as a real bow tie (pay attention gents). There’s nothing more classic and dapper than a bow tie. Kellie’s hair and make up was fantastic – courtesy of the fabulous Neda Stevic – nedastevic@hotmail.com. Their first dance was wonderfully choreographed and provided great entertainment for all of the out of town guests. Having met at UW-Madison it was only appropriate for Bucky to stop by and share a few dances. We’re still singing “Teach Me How to Bucky.” It was wonderful seeing the two interact with each other as well as their friends and family. Their beauty shines not only from the outside, but also from the inside. Thank you so much Kellie and Joe for hosting such a beautiful event and allowing us to capture it, we couldn’t be happier for you two..
Does anything sound as pleasing as “Cicada Brigade?” There is a list compiled by the poet/writer/dictionary maker Robert Beard (yeah I don’t really know who he is either) of the 100 most beautiful words to say in the English language. The list includes such wonderments as elixir, plethora, riparian, and vestigial. Much to my personal lament nowhere was there a cicada or a brigade or a “Cicada Brigade” for that matter.

Never knew the Waukesha Public Library lacked the funding to have windows, or a roof for that matter. Kidding aside, love the preservation of the old incorporated into something modern and relevant to 21st century public architecture.
Got to spend the majority of my day outside today searching for a lost dog, walking dogs (neither of which were the aforementioned dog, who has been found FYI), running, working on the yard, and harvesting hops. Very refreshing to break away from the artificially lit, climate controlled, wi-fi connected office I spend most of my weekdays in.
Often in my photography I look for light – its definition of a subject, its angle, the way it dances across the landscape. What I want to begin to do is look for the lack of light. The absence of light, the presence of darkness. At one with the shadows. Seems almost borderline evil in a way. 1 John 1:5 – God is light and in him is no darkness.
My first foray in trying to grow melons. I started the vines a little late in the season and am only now seeing fruits. Hopefully our summer will extend into the first few weeks of October and my garden will realize its full fecundity.
I can’t take full credit for this shot. Carol, one half of the amazing team of Artists’ Eyes, noticed the way the wine glass reflected the pattern in table cloth. Another great example of what separates artistic endeavors and knowledge in photography from your hobbyist, weekend warrior photog.
