Addy

It’s been over five years since we met and worked with Lorin & Aaron on their wedding day.  After a few years and a few cross-country moves, they have added a new member to their family – Addison.  We were lucky enough to squeeze in this session while the three visited home over Labor Day weekend.  Though slightly reluctant at first, Addy warmed up to the camera quickly with the help of grandma and grandpa’s cheers and Sarah’s crazy antics.  Her myriad of expressions was pure gold.  The grumpy old man face (see the first set of black and white photos below) is hilarious and yet adorable on so many levels.  We also have to give props to Lorin and her mom Kathy for providing some beautiful outfits and cool props for the shoot – the red wagon was perfect.  It’s always a joy for us to work with our wedding couples when they celebrate different milestones in their lives.  Seeing the circle of love grow from a young couple in love to the beginning of a family and the creation of life is always amazing.  It was extremely fun and very relaxing catching up with Lorin, Aaron and their family as well.  (Thanks again for the boat ride guys!)  We wish them all the best in the future ahead of them.

Seth

Since we’ve known and worked with Seth’s dad, Scott, for several years we were more than excited when he asked if we could shoot his son’s senior session.  Though we’ve met Seth on numerous occasions we never had much of a chance to get to really know him.  Last Sunday we got that chance while hanging out exploring all our favorite photo locations in the Third Ward.  We had a feeling the session would be awesome when Seth pulled up in his Jeep with his rolled up – popped collar blazer and white wayfarers.  Tres cool.  We loved his style in an instant and were highly impressed with this young gentleman – easy going, confident, and extremely polite (he even laughed at Sarah’s jokes).  And with his skills in the classroom and on the lacrosse field, Seth is bound for success in this new step in his life.  Kudos to such an awesome dad – Scott, you have a great kid.  Of course, apples don’t fall far from the tree!

Amanda + Anthony

After meeting Amanda and Anthony back in May and really connecting with them on their engagement session, our excitement to capture their wedding grew through the week leading up to tying the knot.  It couldn’t have been a better August day; mild temps, a slight breeze from the west, and a festive group of family and friends.  The couple publicly devoted their lives to each other at St. Gabriel’s Parish in Richfield, WI.  Having little children participate in the wedding march can always be a gamble.  To avoid a catastrophe, Amanda and Anthony had their adorable son Gabrielle and their daughter Madison ride in a wagon pulled by Anthony.  Memorable, easy, efficient, and effective at preventing little tots from running down the aisle to grandma or grandpa.  It also acted as the guest book later that evening – great touch!  On our way to the Rotunda we were able to have some time with just Anthony and Amanda along the boardwalk of the Fox River in downtown Waukesha.  Watching the two exchange looks of love and subtle touches here and there when the camera was down was more than heartwarming.  The way they hold each other’s gazes for what seems like hours makes our job worthwhile.  Of course no wedding would be complete without a party to follow.  Having never shot in the Rotunda had us boiling over with anticipation.  We love new venues and all the intricacies involved with capturing the ambiance and setting they provide for our couples.  The evening was a blast to say the least.  Friends and family made us feel as if we were, well, friends and family.  Congrats to Anthony and Amanda as well as their crazy cute kids Gabriel and Madison.  We wish you the best in this new chapter of your lives.

Sarah + Steve

When we were first contacted about shooting Sarah and Steve’s wedding we had to laugh out loud.  We’ve shot a few Steves, we’ve shot a few Sarahs and even some Saras, but never a Steve and Sarah.  Our nominal relationship broke the ice and helped us truly capture the love they share.  Since they met while attending college in Chicago it was only appropriate that we capture the two in the city where their love would eventually lead them to the decision to commit their lives to each other.  A relaxing stroll through Chicago’s Millennium Park turned out to be the perfect backdrop for our session.  Sarah and Steve’s interaction was poetry in motion.  There was never a time where we had to goad them to cuddle up to each other.  Of course being crazy photogenic and dressed to the nines helped as well.  We can’t wait to work with them again next year when they tie the knot.

Elyse + Zack

We’ve been eagerly awaiting Elyse and Zack’s wedding after having such a good time getting to know the two last year at their lakeside engagement shoot.  With such incredible details used in their session, we knew their nuptials and party afterward would be a delight to capture.  The knot was tied, literally, in a beautiful ceremony at the Bayview United Methodist Church and ended with a beautiful surprise rendition of “How Sweet It Is” by Elyse especially for Zack.  The look of love on the newlyweds’ faces during the song said it better than any vow could have – this couple shares a very deep love and admiration for each other.  Such an awesome ceremony should always be followed by an equally awesome party.  For the shindig, everyone made their way to Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery.  From the thumbprint “guest book” to the pearl draped candelabras, Elyse and Zack transformed Lakefront’s banquet hall into a thing of beauty.  After their first dance and for her encore, Elyse sang a special song honoring both sets of parents.  It’s never difficult to understand how our couples love each other and develop such amazing relationships once we see their parents and the love they share and pass on to their kids.  Elyse and her Dad really surprised everyone with a choreographed dance – it was fantastic!  We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Elyse, Zack, and their friends and family.  Congrats to the newlyweds and all best wishes in their life ahead.

Super Dave

We felt extremely honored when we received the top secret, for-your-eyes-only, invite to cousin Dave’s 50th surprise birthday party.  A little background…  Dave and his wife, Wendy, are some of Sarah’s closest cousins.  Dave was a reader at our wedding and Wendy was one of the bridesmaids.  Wendy spent countless hours preparing for this big event and the amount of thoughtfulness she put into everything was astounding.  You may be asking yourself, ‘Super Dave’?  Well, he is just that – a ‘super’ guy.  Hard working, kind, thoughtful, and funny!  There were many laughs to be had at the shindig.  Wendy hosted a roast with some of his favorite pals and family members.  She had a lovely slideshow put together and even included video cameos from some of his most treasured friends that were unable to attend.  Dave’s bday cake was an out of this world carrot cake (his personal fav) – yummmmmmy!  To cap things off, Wendy walked out in her wedding veil and delivered a heartwarming thank you to her husband for their years together and for being, well, Super Dave.  A very special thank you to Wendy for putting such a fantastically well thought out party together for such an awesome guy.  Your love inspires and warms all of our hearts.  Thanks again for allowing us to share in such a special event.  We love you guys!

Brody

When our good friends Nina and Geoff announced their pregnancy last year we were ecstatic.  We’ve had the incredible honor of knowing the two through some incredible steps in their life.  From their engagement and wedding to watching their first born son Ty grow into a little man, we feel as if we’re almost family.  And now comes another blessing in the form of Brody Andrew.  With adorable baby blues and cheeks that don’t quit, this little guy could melt even the iciest of hearts.  We absolutely loved the nursery Nina and Geoff worked so hard to make for Brody.  He looks so much like Ty did when he was so tiny.  Ty, by the way, is one of the proudest older brothers we’ve ever seen.  Out of the blue he would give Brody a delicate (delicate for a two year old mind you) kiss on the head.  This occurred so many times mom had to stop the love fest in order to help get the session on its way.  Any of us with brothers know, yes, sometimes being a brother is better than being a superhero.  Congrats to Nina and Geoff, we couldn’t be happier for you and your family.

Jenna + Danny

With their big day only a few short weeks away, we were extremely anxious to finally meet Jenna and Danny and shoot their much awaited engagement session.  Working with this pair was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  Jenna and Danny both share an awesome sense of humor that was easily captured.  We were especially thrilled to hear how they met – Danny worked as a rock climbing instructor and Jenna a student who quickly became teacher’s pet.  Their love is truly rock solid (and a whole bunch of other puns involving rocks).  We can’t wait to see the two again in September when they tie the metaphorical climbing knot.

Becky + Nick

After enjoying an afternoon of bowling and beer with Becky and Nick at their unique engagement shoot last year, we knew the big day would be awesome – the two have such a wonderful relaxed demeanor and are a breeze to work with not.  Plus, the love they have for each other is extremely apparent and almost too easy to capture.  The couple chose to  have their nuptials at the Noble Victory Memorial Chapel on the grounds of St. John’s military academy where Nick works.  And though we’ve somewhat missed out on the heat that makes summer feel like summer, the day was beautifully cool and perfect for such a venue.  Nick, in an ash grey tux, eagerly waited as Becky, in a divine lace dress with a diamond cutout, walked down the aisle to become his wife.  After all the “I do’s” and the beautiful harmonization from the three vocalists, there wasn’t a dry eye to be found.  What would a gorgeous wedding be without a joyous celebration to follow?  We always love shooting at the Legend at Brandybrook and this time was no exception.  Becky and Nick incorporated some very cool details and unique items into their party.  From the Jenga pieces used as a guest/well wishes book to the table placards with pics of their pup (who wasn’t able to make it due to canine reasons) everything fit the couple to a “t.”  We had such a wonderful time working with Beck and Nick and their friends and family.  We wish them the best in their next step on their life journey.

Nate

Every summer we look forward to our late evening sessions with our high school seniors. Since having the pleasure of knowing Nate and his family for almost two years now, we were extremely excited to shoot his senior session.  After talking with Nate about his different activities and interests we were able to craft an incredible session specifically around who he is.  Being such an easy going, extremely photogenic, and a great all around young man (sounds very parental when we write it down, Steve wanted to say “dude”), we had a blast hanging out and getting to know about his plans and aspirations for when he bids adieu to high school.  With perfect weather, a very cool wardrobe, and several carefully chosen props, several hours of shooting ended before we knew it.  We wish all the best to Nate in every endeavor he encounters in this new step in life.
