Witching You a Happy Halloween!

Unfortunately, Mom’s trip to Rehoboth Beach’s annual Halloween gala was canceled due to Sandy.  We were so honored to have her pop by this morning for a quick peek at her witch costume that she perfected over the past couple of months.  She has always had the best Halloween spirit.  We love it and we love her.  Great job Mom 🙂

Henry

Wow, another little guy turns one!  Henry is always such a delight to photograph.  With those bright blue eyes, adorable smile, and infectious laugh he is a natural in front of the camera. Watching him explore the fall landscape along Lake Michigan was a blast.  Thanks to Allison for another great job of coordinating wardrobes.  She always has a great eye for keeping Henry looking handsome – checkout our last session.  It’s been a joy watching Henry grow over this past year and being able to document it for Allison and Nate.  Congrats!

Eva

We have enjoyed watching this little girl grow up. With each session she astounds us with how photogenic she is.  She gladly wore her little fall ensemble with pride.  Check out the “hand on the hip” pose – absolutely adorable.  Lexie, Dave – know that we are so impressed with how you have raised this little girl.  Her warm spirit beams, as does the love she shares with her wonderful family. Thank you for letting us share in some of your joy. Love, Sarah + Steven

Callahan

We know it’s redundant when we say what a joy it is to capture the milestones in the lives of our couples.  From the engagement session to the birth of their first child, seeing love blossom firsthand from a “Will you marry me?” to a “It’s a boy!” is a wonder we never tire of.  Last Wednesday we had the pleasure of meeting Callahan Clayton Meyers.  We loved working with his parents,  Renee & Jason,  in 2009 for their engagement and wedding.  Now Callahan is here and boy does he do well in front of the camera.   He may be too young to call him a natural just yet, but his relaxed demeanor made our work fun and extremely rewarding.   Of course we are in love with Callahan’s name.  Great choice Renee and Jason.  Very unique!  Jason, a huge hockey fan, was extremely excited to incorporate some of his hockey swag for his son’s first photo session.  Those tiny skates – they were Jason’s when he was a young lad.  A cool touch indeed.  Congratulations Renee and Jason.  You’ve created such a lovely family.  We can’t wait to see what the years have in store for the three of you (four if you count Baloo the adorable cat).

Marissa + Brian

Every encore session, we notice one amazing trait every couple exhibits from their wedding day to the present.  The love they share for each other has grown exponentially.  It’s almost palpable the joy our couples experience being in the presence of one another.  No matter the difference between one couple to another, love always grows.  Watching Marissa and Brian and the visible bond between the two was magic in motion.  Having the chance to capture their interaction without the pressures of wedding day events allowed us to focus on the moment and the significance of the love connecting the two.  Thank you Marissa and Brian for braving the October cold to help us capture some great images.

Hazel

With her bright blue eyes and blonde locks, Miss Hazel Grace is just a little ray of sunshine.  Like any young toddler set loose in a playground, she had the time of her life.  It was difficult for us to tell what she enjoyed more – exploring the playground and all it had to offer or making us adults run after her trying hard to have her pause for one second to snap a shot.  Of course her outfits were amazingly cute.  The leopard print coat with matching hat may take the cake for cutest coat we’ve seen on a little lady.  We’re so happy for our pals Susan and Mick and the family they’ve created.

Jenna

We’ve known Jenna for almost eight years now.  Watching as she’s grown up and followed her dream of becoming a photographer has been amazing.   After years shooting here in Wisconsin Jenna is heading out west to the great state of Utah to help begin franchising the store her family runs here in Nenno.  Of course, since she will also be continuing her photography business, she needed a few new promotional shots for her new website.  We were extremely honored she called us to shoot them for her.  With a great eye for photography and an infectious happiness, we know success will be hers to claim.  Happy travels Jenn!  Can’t wait to see what new adventures your life holds out west!

Nicole + Mike

Oh October, thy bite doth sting (or something of that nature).  We have to admit – on this wedding we weren’t prepared for the combo of cold temps and wind.  With the intense summer and the drought experienced throughout the region, we almost forgot what winter weather was.  Fortunately, October arrived to remind us.  I’ll skip most of my typical blog intros and get right to it – Nicole was one tough bride.  In October, you really never know what weather you may find yourself tying the knot in.  Forty or seventy degrees; both are possible.  Though we prefer the latter, we received the former.  And Nicole, though in a strapless sweetheart wedding gown, braved the elements for some great autumn wedding portraiture, leaving us holding our tongues anytime we thought of complaining of the cold whilst we sought warmth in our coats and scarfs.  Despite the chill in the air, the day was perfect and thoroughly enjoyable.  Nicole and Mike both have an aura to them that puts one at ease, making you feel as if you’ve been friends for years.  We knew after meeting them last year and shooting their engagement session their big day would be one of those weddings where, driving away at the end of the night, we’d smile to each other in silent recognition of how much we love our job and our couples getting hitched.   Of course having some shared interests with Nicole and Mike helped create a wonderful atmosphere for capturing some great images.  Nicole, like Sarah, has a great affinity for all things “detail.”   The Bible Nicole held concealed under her bouquet was the same held by her grandmother over sixty years ago when she walked the aisle.  The table centerpieces and Christmas ornament place cards were hand made (painstakingly so we assume – so much small detail and very well done) by none other than the bride.  It’s a difficult thing to plan a wedding, create all those cool touches, and work the hours of a nurse  – Nicole is one tough bride to say the least.  Mike, like Steve, loves the cinema as well as a great scotch and a fine cigar.  From Nicole walking down the aisle to the song “Turning Page” from the Twilight saga (Go Team Edward!) to the 007 groom’s cake she surprised Mike with, we loved how their personalities and passions were incorporated throughout the day.  To kick off the evening’s events, Mike donned a white dinner jacket complete with bow-tie and cummerbund – a very dapper choice and a great nod to the style of yesteryear.  With cigar and drink in hand, you’d swear you were in the presence of an international spy or a mob boss.  Watching everyone, including Mike’s mom, grandmother, and Nicole light up cigars at the end of the night was a sight.  It may be customary for the groom and other gentlemen to have a congratulatory cigar at the wedding, but to see the bride, mother, and grandmother join in on the fun was tres cool.   These two were made for each other.  We loved getting to know them over the past year and working with their family and close friends.  Congratulations Nicole and Mike.

Ty

When I was much younger than I am now, I remember my elders complaining (or maybe it was just reflecting) how time passes by before you even realize.  Over five years have past since we first met Nina and Geoff at the Washington County Bridal Fair.  We hit it off upon our first meeting; the love you could plainly see between the two and their outgoing, friendly nature had us overjoyed they had chosen us to shoot their wedding.  Since then we’ve developed a great friendship with the two and have had the privilege of watching their love grow into a family with the addition of Ty in 2010.  We loved documenting his first year and even had the opportunity to capture his first birthday party.  This month marks Ty’s second birthday and what better place for a boy of the fall to get some stunning images than a pumpkin farm?  Our location wasn’t just any pumpkin farm however.  We made the scenic drive out to the edge of Oconomowoc to shoot at the lovely grounds of Ebert’s Greenhouse Village.  The staff of Ebert’s have done a stunning job of creating a fall farm masterpiece that photographs awesomely.  A great place for kids, adults, and pumkin-philes (not sure if that’s a word, but hey let’s go with it).  Ty had a blast and most likely would have stayed all day if he could.  As is the norm with shooting Ty, the smiles, laughs, and emotional connection to the moment comes naturally and abundantly.  His infectious laugh even had me cracking up from time to time.  Such a cute kid and such a beautiful family.  Happy Birthday Ty!
