Day 124: Just ask Kilmer (not Val)

Typically when I post an image of nature (particularly anything residing within the green hued family) there is a degree of beratement from Sarah.  I pay no attention and just remember the opening stanza of “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer, “I think I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree.”

Day 123: the tangled web we weave

It’s a myth that you’re never more than six feet away from a spider.  However, here at Casa de Spottswood the myth holds true.

Day 122: passing "it" by

The car keeps moving.  My sedentary behavior hours proceeding our journey south bound me indoors keeping me from taking in the fresh air, steeling my nerves for the coming confrontation, and getting my shot of the day.  Three-Six-Five could wait: rest, reflection, and recovery are busy with me.  The car keeps moving.  I lean out hoping the gods of auto focus will bless me even as the car keeps moving.

The Clevelands

Pike Lake | Hartford, WI | Hartford Portrait Photographer

It is always such an honor for us to capture one’s family, but when we are asked by fellow photographers to do this we are truly humbled.  So imagine how it made us feel when our friends/photogs, Jeff and Jan, asked us to capture their family.  We couldn’t have been happier to be their selected shooters.  Even though the weather tried to toy with us, we won!  We were able to document this beautiful family in the lovely natural setting of Pike Lake.  Thank you so much to the Clevelands for not only being great subjects to photograph, but treasured friends.

Food

Apple Chips

Every day I am spoiled by my wonderful husband’s fabulous cooking. No… seriously!  It’s like going to a gourmet restaurant everyday!  I took my shot at cooking early on in our marriage, but it was clear that Steven was not only a better cook, he loved doing it. Now, who could argue with that? So I thought it would be fun to document some of his fabulous creations.   Thank you Steven for being so awesome. I love you!

This post sets things off simply…Dehydrated Apple Chips with Cinnamon – YUM!

Day 121: Will the real 117th image please stand up

So, this is what happens when you get behind on your postings.  This image is really the 117th not the 121st.  Right about this time of year the golden rod begins to bloom, the wild sunflowers in the meadow are giving the last calls of summer to anyone who cares to listen, and I start dreaming of autumn.

Day 120: Flies through the air with the greatest of ease

Couldn’t pass up something this dynamic for the shot of the day.  Thanks to Byron for the high flying act. 1

Day 119: The leaves in trees

I spent the better part of the weekend helping with some filming, production stills, and participating in live action sequences for my fight instructor’s web site revamp and promotional materials (you’ll see more on the blog later from this production).  We shot in the beautiful Wisconsin country side surrounding the Devil’s Lake area.  Apart from the stills of the production I did manage to grab my three-six-five shot for the day.

Day 118: Add Toast and Butter

We spent the better portion of our day 118 with Sarah’s father and step mother at the always amazing Shedd Aquarium on Chicago’s lakefront.  I love the jelly fish.  So simple an existence yet so beautiful and in some cases deadly.

Day 117: In a viscous cycle

Wash and wear.  Wear and wash.  Wash and wear.  The vicious cycle of laundering our clothes has me tangled and entwined in chores.
