Indiana

First Stop

Well our first stop on our road trip to sunny FL was Dayton, Indiana – to visit Steven’s Mom and Brothers. They just got a new golden retriever pup – Holmes (their other dog’s name is Watson – get it?;) The dog was so cute, we kept calling him ‘Space Buddy’ because he looks just like one from that movie!

Ground Hog Day

Woodstock, IL

Where do I begin???

Well, since Steven and I have been married, I have wanted to go to the famous little town where they filmed one of my favorite movies, Ground Hog Day. The film was actually filmed in Woodstock, IL instead of Punxsutawney, PA. Every year they have Ground Hog Day festivitiies – so over xmas Steven planned a romantic getaway for us to join in on the celebration this year:)

Everything is just like it was pictured in the movie or better! When you get to the town square (which is awesome all on it’s own) they have speakers playing music throughout the town’s center! Cute polka music and songs from the movie! We caught a free showing of the movie at the local theatre (the theatre was in the movie too!).

The B&B was just adorable, as were the owners – Dot and Don – could you die?!!  How cute is that?!!! The breakfast was out of this world – yum:)

One of the location scouts from the movie comes back to town every year to give a walking tour of all of the spots where they filmed the movie – it was awesome to hear all of the details!

Today was perfect – well, except for Willie’s prediction – 6 more weeks of winter:( But he was the cutest little critter! Before he came out we all sang Ground Hog songs. Corny, but I LOVE corny! Check out the words to this song (the same melody as ‘take me out to the ball game’).

After the prognostication there was a town breakfast where the high school acapella groups serenaded us! They even had the guy who did the voice over as the radio personality in the movie there to do his bit – super cool!

I cannot begin to thank Steven for this wonderful memory!  It was so special and I will cherish it for the rest of my life – really – it was that fabulous. I love you babe oxoxoxoxx.

This is my favorite scene in the movie!

(it’s toward the end of the film, so if you haven’t seen it – skip the last five minutes)
